That Smells Delicious!

The original sauce is an adaptation from an ancient French recipe first recorded by a chemist in England in 1835 and found in a book published around 1960 that was told in a narrative fashion, e.g. "first take a bushel of apples, cover with cider vinegar and cook".  Then, add various and sundry items including spices, kidney beans, coffee, and, of all things, two State of Maine American sardines canned in soy bean oil and subsequently washed off in vinegar and then mashed into the mix.  Murph's Original Savory Sauce has a deliciously mysterious flavor that enhances just about everything!  Well, maybe not ice cream!!!!

Soups, stews, meats, fish, poultry, cheese dishes, vegetable dishes, marinades, gravies and dressings can be enhanced with varying amounts of Murph's Original Sauce.

From this tasty finishing sauce comes every product in Murph’s Collection, featuring an appetizing array of savories and sweets to brighten and tempt your pallet from start to finish!

The sauce is a natural organic product which is not only delicious but healthy.  It is made from unsweetened applesauce, cider vinegar, wholesome protein-filled kidney beans, natural spices and flavors from around the world.  And of course, THE SARDINES!

The sardines could be off-putting to some potential fans of Murph’s Original products!  The ancient recipe written in narrative form calls for two sardines per gallon of sauce.  I don’t know just exactly what this adds but it just isn’t the same without it!  This amounts to 1/10th ounce or .10 ounce in a 12 ounce bottle of Murph’s Original Sauce.  Even this tiny amount may affect some persons with severe allergies.  BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, I say!  It is always good to read labels...

Of course, cider vinegar is a well known health product—many people use it for their well-being both inside the body and out.  Kidney beans are a source of high quality protein.

Of the various different natural spices and flavors blended into this mysteriously delicious sauce, one of the most interesting is TUMERIC.  This is a spice used widely through the subcontinent of India.  Scientists and health researchers have noticed that cancer rates in India are among the lowest of all nations.  Since the spice turmeric is so widely used there, studies are ongoing to establish any causal connection with the Indian diet.  There are already health benefits touted for turmeric.

Maybe Murph’s is a delicious tonic?  A votre sante'!

Use your imagination and enjoy!
